Kunitachi College of Music

Regarding the suspension of activities by Visiting Professor Yosuke Yamashita of our college

Professor Yosuke Yamashita, a visiting professor at our college and a leading pianist in the Japanese jazz world who has been active both domestically and internationally for many years, recently announced on the official website of his music agency, Jamrice, that he will be taking a break from performing at the end of this year and will be taking a break from next year onwards.

He was invited to our university as a visiting professor from April 2004 to March 2007, and then as a visiting professor in April 2007, and has been guiding students in both education and performance techniques for 21 years since then.

Through Professor Yamashita's free-thinking and enthusiastic classes, many students have gained deep learning and inspiration, and have acquired the passion for music and creative spirit that are most important for musicians. They have gone on to take flight in a variety of fields after graduation.
We would like to express our deepest respect for Professor Yamashita's achievements in working at the forefront as an evangelist of the richness and freedom of music to many people across regions and generations, and we hope that his new life here will be a fulfilling one.

We hope that you will visit our university at your leisure when you are feeling better. We would be delighted if you could visit us.
