Completion Requirements
Students must be enrolled for at least three years, have earned two credits in compulsory subjects, eight credits in elective compulsory subjects in the first and second years combined, and two or more credits in Common Elective Subjects, for a total of 12 or more credits, and have received the necessary research guidance. Students must also pass the examination of their doctoral dissertation (or graduation recital or graduation work presentation, depending on the research field) and the final examination.

Curriculum Features
Emphasis on modern and contemporary Japanese music
All research areas will focus on modern and contemporary Japanese music, and will conduct cross-disciplinary research from a wide range of perspectives, including performance theory of works created in Western musical styles by Japanese people since the Meiji period, and creative work using Japanese instruments.
TA (Teaching Assistant)
As a career path, students take "Teaching Methods" (elective, 2 credits) in their first year, becoming a teaching assistant(TA), which will help them aim to become leaders in more advanced academic research.

Research Guidance
In the areas of Vocal Music Research, Instrumental Music Research, and Creative Research, we have established a system for providing comprehensive instruction through collaboration between faculty in charge of Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, and Creative Music and faculty in charge of Musicology.
