Elective Subjects (Course System)
A program that focuses on post-graduation career paths
At Kunitachi College of Music, the first and second years are foundational courses, while the third and fourth years are specialized courses. A "course" is a collection of programs (subject groups) designed to further enhance specialization and hone non-specialized skills, with an eye toward post-graduation career paths. Students can choose any course based on their motivation and ability, regardless of their department or major. Building on the foundational foundations of specialization and musical ability cultivated in the foundational courses, students can gain the skills and knowledge necessary for career design by studying various areas of music in a more specialized way.

This course focuses on soloists and aims to develop advanced performers. It not only provides knowledge and skills, but also a comprehensive program to expand repertoire and improve expressiveness.
Understanding the course system
Our courses are designed to allow students in their third and fourth years to further their own specialization or to broaden their future possibilities by studying "another specialization." There are three types.
In the "Double Major Course," students build on Basic Subjects common to all music college students over two years and study a different field (major) from the one they enrolled in. For example, a student who enrolls as a piano student can choose the "Vocal Music Course" and graduate with both piano and vocal music as their specializations.
The "Exploring and Strengthening Specialties" course broadens the scope of your specialization. For example, if a piano student takes the "Piano Pedagogy Course, they can gain hands-on experience teaching children.
In the "more specialized selection courses," those selected through the selection test can gain more advanced performance experience. There are various courses such as the "Soloist Course" and the "Orchestral Player Course."
