Student's Voice

Experiencing music therapy in the field
It's a valuable learning opportunity

MOMOZAWA Mako

Department of Music Cultures & Education, Music Therapy, 4th year
Graduated from Kureha High School, Toyama
Music Therapy + Music Therapy Course

I learned a lot from the "singing practice" where I learned the basic knowledge of singing and playing music necessary for music therapy sessions, as well as techniques for accompaniment tailored to clients. At first, I felt uncomfortable singing and playing music or improvising, but this was resolved as I continued taking classes, and I began to want to hone my skills even more. From the third year, students are given clinical training where they can observe and participate in actual music therapy settings. Observing therapists who respond flexibly to the situation at hand was a valuable learning opportunity. At this College, I learned music therapy from the ground up and gained a variety of experiences in the field, and I feel like I have discovered a new connection between people and music, as well as the possibilities of music.
